When will the application open?
Our application is currently open! Click “Apply for Relief” to access our application in English and Spanish.
Can I apply if I have already received a grant?
Applications are made available to individuals who have not received a grant within the past 24 months.
How is it decided who gets the money?
Our board and a small team of trained volunteers assess the applications and disperse grants as the fund allows. The current qualifications for applying for the fund are straightforward: an applicant must have worked as a nanny within the past year, reside in the US or its territories, and be able to demonstrate financial hardship.
I applied; now what?
You will be contacted via email to inform you whether your grant has been approved or denied. Applicants who are denied at this time will be encouraged to reapply during our next open application period.
I’m not a nanny, but I am a domestic worker. Can I apply?
We decided to keep our fund exclusive to nannies since they are our community (the fund was started by a nanny to help other nannies!) There are 1.1 million nannies in the United States alone, so we wanted to keep our range as limited within that as possible. There are many other relief funds set up for domestic workers, including through the NDWA.
Can I apply if I have been paid in cash or under the table?
Yes, as long as you are able to provide some documentation of income and of working as a nanny within the last year.
Will I need to provide my Social Security Number to apply?
No, you do not need to provide your Social Security Number.
Is this considered taxable income?
Reporting requirements and taxation may differ between individuals and their specific situations. We strongly recommend checking in with a tax professional, e.g. a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), tax lawyer, or tax preparation service, for guidance on how to report a receipt of grant funds when filing taxes.
Is the grant application (my info) confidential?
Yes. The security of your information and confidentiality is one of our our utmost priorities.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Most likely! We are a registered 501c3 non-profit. Our EIN is: 85-0696420 Please speak with your tax preparer for specifics on your filing needs. If you have donated to NRF and would like a receipt for your records, please e-mail: info@nannyreleiffund.org by January 15th of the following tax year.
What papers will I need to collect for application?
You will need to provide for us:
Your name and mailing address, a phone number and email address
Some proof of work history (at least one of following covering the last 12 months):
Pay Stubs
Tax Forms (e.g., W-2, 1099)

Will I need to pay this back?
No, this is a grant and the money disbursed is yours to use for housing costs, car payments or transportation costs, utility bills, child care, groceries and medical bills.
We do encourage recipients to consider paying it forward by donating to the Nanny Relief Fund if and when they are in a position to do so.
Will receiving a grant affect my unemployment benefits?
As different states and cities have different guidelines on this, we recommend consulting with your local unemployment office or case worker for a definitive answer.
I live outside of the US - can I apply?
Unfortunately at this time grants can only be made to residents of the U.S, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other U.S. Territories.
What can funds be used for?
We expect funds should be used for basic necessities such as rent, food, transportation costs, utility costs, child care or medical care.
